Community Engagement:
Our racers have committed to supporting their local community by volunteering for a wide range of activities - from helping put on a stage race, volunteering in registration, set up, clean up and everything in between to make the annual Wildflower Century a yearly success, to riding along with an entire class of elementary school children teaching them about cycling safety. Collectively, we log hundreds of hours of community service in Chico each year! We specifically target donations to these organizations below.
The 6th Street Center for Youth:
The mission of the 6th Street Center is to provide a safe place where youth experiencing homelessness can acquire the skills, resources and opportunity they need to transition into healthy independent living and adulthood.
The 6th Street Center for Youth opened in 2008 as a MHSA funded collaboration between Youth For Change, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health’s HERE Program and the Runaway and Homeless Youth Task Force. The 6th Street Center provides services to youth ages 14-24 that are homeless, marginally housed or runaways.
Perinatal Rescue Network:
We believe lowering newborn and maternal mortality is best done by using resource appropriate, specific education, and consistent networking. It is also our deepest desire to create more sustainable opportunities for access to newborn resuscitation equipment and education in rural and remote areas. Because of this, we create global support for local champions who are solving perinatal deaths with education, equipment, funding and networking. Our training programs consist of Helping Babies Breathe and Helping Mothers Survive to better fulfill our mission! Using these proven strategies, we will help the world reach Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5: Reducing Child Mortality and Improving Maternal Health.
